Yes, Cash App integrates Afterpay’s BNPL service directly into its platform.
Since late 2025, Cash App users have been able to pay over time on purchases, either at participating online merchants or on past transactions. This pay-over-time option is simply branded Afterpay on Cash App (sometimes called Cash App Afterpay).
It lets eligible users split purchases into interest-free or low-interest installments through their Cash App account, without needing a separate Afterpay login.
Eligibility Requirements For Afterpay on Cash App
Before you can use Afterpay in Cash App, you must be an eligible Cash App user. Eligibility requires:
- US residency and age: You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States.
- Cash App Card: To use Afterpay on in-store purchases or to retroactively convert them, you need the new Cash App Visa Debit Flex Card. Prepaid or old-style cards won’t support Afterpay.
- General account eligibility: Afterpay financing is subject to underwriting. Block uses Cash App account data rather than credit scores.
New Cash App users usually have smaller initial Afterpay limits that can grow with responsible use.
If your account qualifies, you should be able to find and activate Afterpay features directly in the Cash App.
Once Afterpay is active, you can either shop online with Afterpay at merchant sites or make Cash Card purchases that you convert to installments.
Where to Find the Afterpay Option
The Afterpay section appears under the Money tab in Cash App. Here’s how to get started:
In-App:
- Open Cash App
- Under the Money tab, choose the “Afterpay” section.
From there, you can see how much Pay Over Time credit you have and toggle features on/off.
If you have Afterpay on your Cash Card, a Pay Over Time button appears when viewing recent eligible transactions in your Activity.
Tap it to split the purchase into installments.
Online Checkout:
At online stores that partner with Afterpay, you’ll see Afterpay, usually branded $Afterpay or Afterpay, as a payment choice.
You need to select it at checkout and log in using your Cash App email or phone number when prompted.
Afterpay on Cash App will handle the payment schedule through the app.
Availability continues to expand, so whether you can use Afterpay may depend on the retailer, purchase, and checkout method.

Method 1: Using Afterpay at Checkout
When shopping online at a store that accepts Afterpay, look for the Afterpay button at checkout.
Select it and proceed as follows:
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Select Afterpay at checkout. If you don’t see it, check “View More” or “Buy Now, Pay Later.” |
| 2 | Connect Cash App using your registered email or phone number and required payment details. |
| 3 | Confirm the payment plan and complete checkout. Your first payment and installment schedule will be set up. |
| 4 | Review payments in Cash App to view your purchase details and upcoming due dates. |
| 5 | Complete scheduled payments using your Cash App balance or linked payment method on the due dates. |
No interest is charged if you pay on time, and returns/refunds are handled through the merchant as usual.
Method 2: Using Afterpay With Your Cash App Card
To use Afterpay on a purchase with your Cash App Card
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Turn on Afterpay → Open Cash App → Go to the Money tab → Find Afterpay → Turn on Pay Over Time if you’re eligible. |
| 2 | Buy something with your Cash App Card → Use your Cash App Visa Debit Flex Card to pay online or in a store like you normally would. |
| 3 | Wait for the payment to finish processing → Give Cash App time to complete the transaction. Eligible purchases will become available for Afterpay. |
| 4 | Choose Afterpay for your purchase → Open Cash App → Tap Activity → Select the purchase → Tap Pay over time available and follow the instructions. |
| 5 | Make your payments → Cash App will split the balance into smaller payments. Your payments will be taken automatically each week until it is paid off. |
If that balance is repaid in six weekly payments, the payments would be about $43 per week. The $18 fee is added to the amount owed; it is not deducted from the $240 loan proceeds.
Your actual fee, payment amount, and repayment schedule may vary. Always check your Afterpay summary in Cash App for the exact terms before confirming the loan.
Why Your Account May Not Have an Afterpay Option?
Several reasons might cause the Afterpay option to be missing from your Cash App:
- App version outdated: If your Cash App isn’t fully updated, new features like Afterpay may not appear.
- Not eligible: Afterpay is only available to certain users. If your account is new, or you’re in an unsupported state, you won’t see it.
- No Cash Card or incorrect card: To use the Card-based Afterpay, you need the Cash App Visa Debit Flex Card.
- No eligible transactions: The retroactive feature requires you to have made a purchase over $25 in the past 30 days.
- Feature rollout timing: Cash App Afterpay may still be rolling out to some users.
If you don’t see it yet, keep checking or contact support.
